The Rebirth of a Nation

Ah, Theah. A world of rapier and gun, insult and oath. A land driven by and threatened by secrets. This story begins with a war. Wealthy Montaigne, seeing the gap in power left my fallen Eisen, seeks to further her own prospects by laying hold of the lands of Castille. Armed with the disturbing Porte sorcery and the most successful general in all of Theah, l’Empereur Léon Alexandre du Montaigne XIV has claimed half of fertile Castille for his own. The Montaigne forces have driven Castille from her homeland, all the way to the footsteps of Vaticine City, the great fortress El Morro.

Ever since his older brother Javier disappeared, Salvador Bejarano de Sandoval has done his best fill the role of Rex Castillium despite the Church’s refusal to bestow it. Now at the age of 16, with only three years of ruling under his belt, he has shown Castille that he is an able and just ruler. The war with Montaigne has been trying, and no less so by the constant disagreements of his two chief advisors, Cardinal Esteban Verdugo and Don Andrea Bejarano del Aldana. However, his optimism is fueled by the indomitable spirit of the Castillian people who love him so, and the enigmatic aid of the vagabond El Vago, who has thwarted multiple attempts on his life by Montaigne assassins.
